Durham explains its new approach to admissions management
Durham University took centre stage at the UCISA CISG-PMCG 18 conference in Glasgow when it presented its business showcase on its new admissions system. The presentation was given by Liz Dodds, Head of Admissions Services at Durham, who also acted as Executive Lead for Business Change on the Recruiting the Next Generation of Students project.
Liz began by outlining the drivers for this key project which included increased competition, changes to post-16 education, widening participation objectives and the desire for a more efficient admissions process. The result, is a brand new enquiries management and postgraduate admissions system, based on CRM and featuring an online, applicant Portal which provides a live interface between prospective, postgraduate students and admissions staff.
Liz summarised the realised benefits as:-
- SERVICE – consistent quality, improved turnaround, self-service multi-media capabilities
- PROCESS – consistent data capture, proactive campaigns, increased automation, improved reporting
- STAFFING –staff savings, academic time savings, increased morale & resilience
